US corporation Apple has paid the Indonesian government a $10 million fine, Antara reported on February 19.

"The debt has been paid and we have received the payment," the country's Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said during a meeting at a launch event in Jakarta.

Apple has thus "acknowledged and confirmed" its remaining debt for obtaining a $10 million government certificate from TKDN for the period 2020-2023. The amount was originally due in June 2023.

"Under the stated rules, non-payment could result in Apple being subject to sanctions in the form of additional new investment capital requirements, suspension of TKDN certificates and even revocation of TKDN certificates, potentially leading to a ban on the sale of Apple products in the country," the agency elaborated.

Earlier, Google's debt to Russian TV channels reached 2.8 duodecillion rubles. The court was asked to recognize the debt claims as registry claims, so that the company would first settle its wage debts and then deal with other debts.
