Moldovan resident arrested for 30 days for ferrying evaders from Ukraine

A Moldovan border police patrol has detained a Moldovan citizen for 30 days for helping two Ukrainians illegally cross the state border. About it on February 19 reports the press service of the border police of the country.

"On February 14, 2025, a mobile patrol detained three people involved in the illegal crossing of the state border. The incident occurred about 4 km from the border line, where two citizens of Ukraine aged 25 and 54 years, accompanied by a 32-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova," - said in a statement of the Department.

It is specified that the Ukrainians explained their actions by the fact that they had to leave the country illegally because of the armed conflict on its territory. They agreed with a citizen of Moldova for $2 thousand for their crossing the border.

A criminal case was opened under the crime "Organization of illegal migration". Two citizens of Ukraine were detained, they enjoy the presumption of innocence.

Earlier, on December 24, 2024 in Moldova liquidated an illegal channel of transfer across the border evaders from Ukraine. It is noted that two suspects were detained, who with Ukrainian accomplices were engaged in the transfer of citizens to Moldova.
