Fitzo called the Paris summit the result of unnecessary EU nervousness

The informal summit of European Union (EU) leaders in Paris was a consequence of the unnecessary nervousness that Europe is stirring up by its own efforts. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said this on February 19 ahead of his trip to the United States.

"Informal meetings of 'friends of war' in Paris are the result of completely unnecessary nervousness that the EU is stirring up by its own efforts. We get nervous when the US Vice President [JD Vance] tells us the truth. We are nervous when the US and Russia don't call us to the table to negotiate peace in Ukraine. We should stop crying," Fitzo says in a video message on his Facebook page (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia).

The politician noted that the world in February 2025 is quite different from the one in December 2024. And this should be accepted and react accordingly, instead of crying and doing the wrong thing.

"Slovakia, Hungary and the EU have supported the <military operation> in Ukraine for three years. They (EU leaders. - Ed.) did not listen to our objections that the strategy of military conflict in Ukraine to weaken the Russian Federation does not work. They did not listen to the fact that it is impossible to win a military operation against Russia," the Slovak Prime Minister pointed out.

On Monday, February 17, a summit of European leaders took place in Paris. It was attended by the heads of six EU countries, Britain, as well as NATO and EU officials. It was reported that at the meeting the leaders of the EU member states faced disagreement over sending military personnel to Ukraine. It is specified that Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain expressed their refusal on this issue.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on February 18 that he had no plans to send troops to Ukraine as long as armed hostilities continued in the country. After Reuters reported that France intended to hold a second meeting with the EU countries that were not at the first talks and with Canada to discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the security of Europe.
