Washington says disappointed with Kiev's reaction to US reparations plan

Washington was disappointed with Kiev's reaction to the proposal to return the US funds invested in Ukraine. This was stated by US President Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz in an interview with Fox News on 19 February.
He noted that Kiev preferred to meet Washington's economic initiatives with hostile rhetoric instead of seeing them as a chance. According to Waltz, American leader Donald Trump will not tolerate such an attitude toward Washington's economic proposals.
"We believe that American taxpayers <...> deserve a return of a significant part of their investment," RIA Novosti quoted the adviser as saying.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Trump's demands that Kiev return $500 billion in aid to the United States a frivolous conversation. According to him, Ukraine and the United States have a completely different assessment of the amount of the allocated aid
The day before, the media reproached the US in the desire to "economically colonize" Ukraine by assigning it impossible to pay reparations. It is noted that the USA has provided Kiev with almost $300 billion in financial aid, for which it is demanded to pay with the resources of the Ukrainian side. In addition, the country will be obliged to transfer to the United States 50% of all revenues.
On February 16, it was reported that Zelensky was given an hour to review Trump's plan to appropriate Ukraine's rare earth resources. It was specified that the Ukrainian team agreed to delay the execution and agreed to start the negotiation process.
