Putin responded to a journalist's reservation about meeting with Trump with a joke about himself in the mirror

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, February 19, joked in response to a reporter's reservation that he meets himself every day by looking in the mirror.

While visiting a drone manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg, the head of state was chatting with journalists and a reporter asked him when he would meet Putin.

"Every day. I look in the mirror," the president said.

The journalist, however, immediately corrected himself and asked about the Russian leader's meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Putin said at this meeting that he would like to meet with his American counterpart, whom he has not seen for a long time. The Russian president emphasized that a number of issues should be prepared before such talks in order to then come to solutions acceptable to Moscow and Washington.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at the time that Russian and US representatives at the talks in Riyadh demonstrated the political will to organize a meeting between the two presidents as soon as possible. Nevertheless, it is impossible to say for sure how long it will take to prepare contacts - days or weeks.

On February 18, talks between Russian and US delegations were held in one of the royal family palaces in Riyadh. Putin and Trump praised the results of this meeting.
