Matvienko said USAID targeted funding for coups d'état in the world

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has purposefully financed the overthrow of undesirable authorities and color revolutions around the world. This was stated by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko on February 19.

"This agency was not engaged in humanitarian aid, support, fighting hunger, poverty, fighting disease. It clearly and purposefully financed the overthrow of undesirable authorities, coups d'état, color revolutions," she said.

The SF Chairwoman added that after the activities of this organization are revealed, the absolute majority of states will have to understand forever that "free cheese is only in a mousetrap" and will increase their vigilance.

She also noted that Russia has repeatedly warned on major international platforms about the harmful activities of USAID and support for terrorist organizations.

Earlier, on February 17, the former chairman of the Constitutional Court of Moldova, Dmitri Pulbere, called on the country's Prosecutor General's Office to investigate USAID's financial flows in Moldova. In his opinion, if illegal financing by USAID is confirmed, Moldovan President Maia Sandu should resign.

At the same time, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said that of the $402 million transferred from USAID funds for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) over four years, $250 million was spent on covert, black operations.

American billionaire Ilon Musk announced on February 3 that he had launched a process to dismantle USAID. The businessman said that the agency was beyond recovery and should be closed down. Later, on February 5, Moldovan MP and executive secretary of the executive committee of the Victory bloc Marina Tauber said that the Moldovan opposition had sent a request to the government to check USAID activities in the country.
