Court fines VPN provider for violating foreign agent status


Tagansky court of Moscow for the first time decided to fine the provider of VPN service - the company Hidemy.network Ltd., in connection with violation of the rules of foreign agent activity. It will have to pay 400 thousand rubles to the state, the court's press service reported on February 19.
"By the ruling of the Tagansky district court of Moscow, Hidemy.network Ltd. (owns the HideMy.name service) was found guilty of committing an administrative offense. <...> Assigned punishment in the form of an administrative fine of 400 thousand rubles," - indicated there.
It is noted that the fine was issued under part 4 of Article 19.34 of the CAO RF ("Production of materials by a foreign agent using the Internet without indicating that these materials are produced by a foreign agent").
Earlier, on February 17, a court in Moscow fined the leader of the band "Nogu Svelo!" Maksim Pokrovsky and blogger Ilya Varlamov (both recognized as foreign agents in the Russian Federation) for refusing to indicate their foreign agent status on social networks. Both were fined 45,000 rubles.
