Survey shows how many drivers in Russia do not use a child car seat

Almost every eighth car owner does not use a child car seat. This was reported by the analytical agency "Avtostat" with reference to the results of a survey of Russians on February 19. The survey involved more than 4 thousand drivers who have children under the age of 12 years.

Thus, 12.7% of drivers who transport children said that they do not use a child car seat. However, two thirds (64.3%) of respondents indicated that they use car seats for a certain age of the child.

Almost every fifth (19.4%) survey participant uses a universal booster for child transportation. About 3% indicated their spouse has a car seat in the car because they drive their children. Another 1% or so of survey participants reported other options.

According to Article 12.23 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of the rules of transportation of people", the fine for improper transportation of children in the car for individuals is 3 thousand rubles. violation. From the age of 12 years, a child seat can not be used.

Earlier in the day it was reported that at the end of 2024 in Russia on two popular marketplaces total sales of 291.5 thousand plugs for seat belts in the amount of more than 84.5 million rubles. Compared to 2023, sales of seat belt plugs increased by one third.

Also on February 19, Vice-President of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin said that Russia should increase responsibility for the conscious refusal of seat belts. It is necessary to consider amendments to the legislation, which would force injured drivers, if they did not wear seat belts and suffered in an accident, to pay for medical services at their own expense, the interlocutor said.
