Putin lays flowers at the monument to Sobchak in St. Petersburg

Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the monument to St. Petersburg's first mayor Anatoly Sobchak on Vasilyevsky Island on Wednesday, February 19, to mark the 25th anniversary of his death.

Sobchak led the city from 1991 to 1996 and became the only mayor of St. Petersburg in history.
