Another 78 video surveillance cameras are not enough on the streets of Chita to ensure safety. Only 131 of the required 209 cameras have been installed in the city, said Vyacheslav Yegovtsev, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Zabaikalye, during a report on the work for 20024 to the members of parliament.

According to the police chief, the installed cameras are placed in the most criminal places of the city. It is necessary to re-equip them, but there is no funding for this in the budget of the regional capital.

As Egovtsev noted, the last time video fixation cameras were purchased in 2015. Since that time, no additional equipment has been purchased. The devices were placed within the framework of the "Safe City" system, writes IA ChitaMedia.

Earlier in January it was reported that about 112.7 million rubles were allocated for antiterrorist security of schools in the Transbaikal Territory. The money was distributed among 31 educational institutions.
