More than 50% of surveyed employers in Russia reported a shortage of IT specialists

The majority of Russian employers (64%) see a shortage of IT specialists on the labor market, with 16% of them feeling it very acutely. This is stated in the results of the survey of the platform for working with freelancers "Consol.Pro", which were read by "Izvestia" on February 20.

The main shortage of staff is observed by respondents among Senior (40%) and Middle (39%). The lack of employees at the level of managers and directors (C-Level) was pointed out by 15%. At the same time, companies do not experience hunger for junior specialists, only 6% see the problem of Junior shortage.

Companies feel the shortage of testers the most strongly - 31% of respondents pointed this out. Backend-developers are in second place (27%), and the top three were closed by product managers (24%). The list also includes development team leaders (21%) and information security specialists (19%).

According to the surveyed employers, the number of applicants is not enough (39%) to meet the market demand for specialists. At the same time, more than two thirds do not exclude among the reasons low salaries on the market and lack of interesting tasks for applicants (37% and 34% respectively). One in five also believes that the lack of interest in employment is due to the employer's company being little known.

Only a third of respondents said that the IT-industry is unattractive for job seekers, while almost half of the survey participants are sure of the opposite (47%).

To attract and retain IT specialists in 2025, respondents plan to provide flexible schedules and remote work opportunities (40%), increase salaries and add various bonuses (37%), improve corporate culture (36%), attract strong specialists on a project basis for necessary temporary tasks (30%), as well as invest in employee training and development (24%), and update grading systems to determine the level of specialists (18%).

In addition, experts found out that 60% of employers do not expect the situation with specialists on the labor market to worsen in 2025. Thus, 32% consider this risk unlikely, and 28% exclude this scenario altogether.

Earlier, January 15, it was reported that every third Russian respondent (28%) planned to change jobs in 2025. This is stated in the results of a study by the Russian School of Management. Among the most frequent reasons for such a decision are low wages (47% of respondents said so), lack of opportunities for professional growth (45%), lack of career prospects (39%).
