EC pledges to protect EU from pesticides used in the US

The European Commission (EC) promises to take measures against imported products that contain pesticides banned in the European Union (EU), used, in particular, by the United States. A February 19 publication on the EC's website indicates that.
"The Commission will start taking steps in 2025 to assess the impact of greater harmonization of standards when it comes to hazardous pesticides banned in the EU and animal welfare," the publication says.
It emphasizes that any further ban on pesticides will be carefully considered. In addition, the European Commission will take action against all imported agricultural products that are produced to standards lower than those in the EU.
According to the document, the association will continue to prioritize food security and sovereignty. Trade agreements, according to the EC, will be used to protect the interests of European farmers.
The Financial Times (FT) reported on February 16 that the EU may block imports of some U.S. products in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's trade policies and in order to protect its farmers. The possible ban includes soybeans grown with pesticides.
