Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy 's statements look contradictory against the background of the Russian-US talks held in the Saudi capital on February 18. Peskov told reporters.

"Let's see what kind of political will the Kiev regime has, also a lot depends. Here so far, you see that Zelensky makes quite contradictory statements, but probably sooner or later he will formulate his position," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Before that, Congressman Jake Ochincloss said that Russia had won the first round of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Themeeting of the delegations of the Russian Federation and the United States was held in one of the palaces of the royal family in Riyadh earlier on February 18. Moscow was represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, and Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). On the Washington side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steven Whitkoff took part in the meeting. The delegations managed to agree on the establishment of negotiating groups on Ukraine.
