Callas called Russian Federation a winner in talks with the U.S.

Against the background of negotiations with the United States in Riyadh, Russia looks like a winner. European Union (EU) diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas said this in an interview with Euractiv on February 18.

"If you look at the pictures from Saudi Arabia, the Russians are the winners. Their position is 'now everybody comes to us and offers us what we want,'" she said.

According to her, Russia allegedly does not want to achieve peace. Therefore, the EU should put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to "want to move toward peace."

TheRussian and United States delegations met at one of the royal family palaces in Riyadh on February 18. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the talks very useful. According to him, the sides "did not just listen, but also heard each other."
