Pushkov called Macron a warrior wonder and mocked his plans

European leaders will not send a military contingent to Ukraine despite their statements about their readiness and full determination to do so. Alexei Pushkov, head of the Federation Council's commission on information policy, said this on February 19, commenting on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron.
"Now the wonder-warrior Macron wants to negotiate with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin instead. And he is no longer ready to send troops. And who is? No one," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Pushkov, despite the assembled "coalition of those able and willing" to send troops to Ukraine, the leaders of France and Britain refused to take such a step, for which they were supported in Germany, Italy and Poland. In particular, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was ready to make a decision on this only together with France, Gazeta.Ru added.
On Monday, February 17, a summit of European leaders took place in Paris. It was attended by the leaders of six European Union (EU) countries, the UK, as well as NATO and EU officials. It was reported that at the meeting the leaders of the EU member states faced disagreements over sending military personnel to Ukraine. It is specified that Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain expressed their refusal on this issue.
On 18 February, Macron said that he had no plans to send his troops to Ukraine as long as the armed hostilities in the country continued.
