More than 150 small orcas washed ashore in Tasmania

In the Australian state of Tasmania more than 150 small orcas washed ashore. This was reported by ABC TV channel on February 19.
According to the channel, about 90 surviving orcas will be euthanized after several unsuccessful attempts to return them to the habitat.
Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) spokesman Brandon Clarke said it would be difficult to save all the orcas due to the remote location of the beach.
It is estimated that they had been stranded for 24 to 48 hours. At this time, the cause of the animals' ejection is not known.
In May 2024, several orcas sank a sailing yacht in Moroccan waters in the Strait of Gibraltar, ramming it. It is noted that there were two people on board the 15-meter yacht Alboran Cognac.
