Russia and the United States discussed possible cooperation on energy projects in the Arctic during talks in Riyadh. Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), told Politico newspaper on February 18.

"It was more of a general discussion - perhaps about joint projects in the Arctic. We specifically discussed the Arctic," he reportedly said.

Dmitriev also said that according to an estimate by RDIF, U.S. companies have lost about $300 billion as a result of leaving Russia since the conflict in Ukraine began. He added that poor relations between Russia and the United States are "costing" American businesses "dearly.

According to the RDIF head, at the moment there are ways to ensure productive cooperation between Moscow and Washington that will benefit the two states. Dmitriev also said that both sides agreed to create working groups and hold regular high-level contacts.

The day before, the head of RDIF reported that representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States are discussing reunification in a number of economic spheres. According to him, Moscow and Washington need to move on to joint projects, including in the Arctic.
