A case of violent seizure of power has been opened against ex-deputy Ponomarev


Former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the register of extremists and terrorists) became a defendant in a criminal case on violent seizure of power and organization of a terrorist community. This was reported in the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of Russia on February 19.
It is specified that at the moment nine regions of Russia are being searched for associates of the former Duma deputy hiding abroad, accused under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (forcible seizure of power), as well as under Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of a terrorist community and participation in it).
According to preliminary data, Ponomarev created a so-called "government in exile" in Poland, which included fugitive oppositionists, under the name "Congress of People's Deputies".
With the support of the Ukrainian government, the "organization" adopted a new constitution, as well as a number of other laws that were to come into force after Ponomarev came to power.
