The USA has suspended accepting immigration applications from citizens of Ukraine and Latin America to enter the country. This was reported by CBS television channel on February 18.

"According to two US officials and an internal memo obtained by CBS News, the administration of [US leader Donald] Trump has imposed a pause in the consideration of all applications for immigration submitted by migrants from Latin America and Ukraine," - stated in the material.

It is specified that this measure will affect migrants who were in the process of applying for benefits that allow you to stay in the United States.

According to the channel, the suspension of applications will be in effect for an indefinite period of time. U.S. officials are reportedly currently working to identify "potential fraud" and improve vetting procedures to reduce national and public safety.

Earlier, on January 25, officials of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security suspended certain programs that allow migrants to temporarily live in the country, including Uniting for Ukraine, thanks to which Ukrainians with an inviting party (sponsor) could get to the territory of the United States. It was noted that the Uniting for Ukraine initiative, which started working under President Joe Biden, allowed more than 150,000 Ukrainians to enter the USA.
