Russians plan to save money in preparation for Pancake Day


The majority of Russians (62%) plan to celebrate Pancake Day at home with family or friends, while almost a third plan to join the city festivities. Only 8% of residents refused to celebrate, according to the survey data of the service "Package", which were reviewed by "Gazeta.Ru" on February 19.
More than half of respondents expect to spend from Br1 thousand to Br3 thousand on food for the festive table. Another 17% intend to keep within the amount of less than Br1 thousand, 22% - are ready to spend from Br3 thousand to Br5 thousand, while 10% - more than Br5 thousand. At the same time, 39% of respondents plan to save money by choosing goods with discounts, and 27% rely on cashback services and loyalty programs. Only 16% of survey participants are ready to completely give up control over expenses.
Half of Russians are interested in modern Shrovetide culinary trends, but a third of respondents prefer traditional pancake recipes. Only 17% of respondents have family traditions related to the preparation of special Shrovetide dishes.
As for preferences in fillings, most Russians favor cottage cheese (60%), sour cream (58%) and condensed milk (52%). Meat fillings (51%), caviar (36%), ham and cheese (33%) and butter (32%) are also popular. Pancakes without filling are chosen by 19% of respondents.
