The Pentagon sends to officials of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump the names of probationary employees who may be cut. This was reported by Bloomberg on February 19, citing interlocutors.

At the moment it is not clear whether the U.S. Department of Defense will fire all those on the list, or the cuts will affect a smaller part of it.

It is known that only civilian employees, not active military personnel, are considered as candidates for dismissal.

At the same time, Trump said the nation's Department of Defense will be one of the next targets for massive cuts as Ilon Musk's Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) conducts layoffs among federal employees.

"We welcome DOGE to the Pentagon," Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, noting that the department is willing to work with Musk's team.

On Feb. 12, NBC News reported that President Trump signed an executive order expanding Musk's authority over his DOGE activities.
