Slovak presidential adviser says EU sanctions against Russia ineffective

The sanctions imposed by the European Union are ineffective and cannot stop Russia's actions in Ukraine, Slovak presidential adviser for international affairs Jan Kubiš told Izvestia.

"We need to see what impact this set of sanctions has on the EU and what impact it has on Russia. We need this in order to act more gradually," he said.

The European Union plans to approve the 16th package of anti-Russian sanctions on February 24, which, among other things, will affect Russia's energy sector.
