Matviyenko called Russia's talks with the U.S. a good signal

Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko on February 18 called Russia's talks with the United States a good signal.
"You know, I think it is obvious to me that it is still early and premature to talk about any results. The very fact that after three years, when there was no communication at all, there was a very substantial conversation between the leaders of our countries <...> and it was long and substantial, already speaks volumes," she said.
Matviyenko also noted that in addition to the talks, urgent actions have begun. For example, the first negotiating team met in Saudi Arabia to figure out how to "clear the rubble" and get out of the destructive actions carried out by former US President Joe Biden's team.
"Both the United States and Russia, we understand the importance of cooperation between our two states in solving world problems, geopolitical problems. And nobody can dispute that. And the beginning of negotiations is a very good signal, a very positive signal," she concluded.
TheRussian and United States delegations met at one of the royal family palaces in Riyadh earlier in the day. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the talks very useful. According to him, the sides "did not just listen, but heard each other."
