Bundestag deputy from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) Eugen Schmidt has received seven threatening letters, he told Izvestia. The anonymous messages came from e-mails with Ukrainian domains.

The politician said that almost immediately filed a statement with law enforcement.

"When I went to the police, I asked if anyone else had been sent such letters. From the conversation I realized that to some other deputy from the AfD. But the details are not known - the police do not share information," he said.

The MP does not rule out that his case is not the only one, but the stories of the victims are not known to the general public. The media glosses over the problem.

"They just don't write about it anywhere, there is no free press here," he noted.

The elections to the Bundestag will be held on February 23.
