There are not enough soldiers in the UK army for their dispatch to Ukraine to have any significant effect. This was stated by David Richards, former head of the General Staff of the UK Armed Forces, in a conversation with the Sky News TV channel on February 18.

"The total strength of the [British] army is about 72,000, but the number of troops ready to deploy is between 45,000 and 50,000 from the force. <...> And the army is simply not big enough to have any great effect," he said.

Richards also emphasized that the possible sending of a military contingent to Ukraine would require the deployment of a large number of soldiers there on a permanent basis.

Earlier, expert Yuriy Knutov assessed the statement about Britain's readiness to deploy troops in Ukraine. According to him, the British government will lobby for the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine at all levels, starting from pressure on the Kiev regime and ending with agreements with Europe on the continuation of the confrontation with Russia.
