Cooperation between Russia and China in the sphere of cinematography is very important and promising. Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui told Izvestia on February 18.

"I would like to say that cooperation in this area is very important and promising. Because we have a lot of good stories, good plots. It is worth us, then, to make movies and spread these stories," he shared.

Russia and China agreed to shoot a joint detective story "Red Silk" at last year's BRICS summit in Kazan, he said. The ambassador added that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, and the sides are well aware that at that time the PRC and the Russian Federation helped each other.

According to the Chinese ambassador, audiences should especially love "Red Silk" as the movie is the first joint work between the two countries after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanhui specified that in the future the countries will try to make more joint films.

The detective moviepremiered in Moscow earlier in the day.

The action of "Red Silk" takes place in 1927. Trans-Siberian Express, crossing the territory of Russia, carries to Moscow secret documents that determine the course of the narrative. So, the passengers of the train are not only carrying important materials employees, but also foreign spies, ready for anything for the sake of documents.

The movie was attended by actors such as Milos Bikovich, Gosha Kutsenko, Elena Podkaminskaya, Irina Alferova, Gleb Kalyuzhny, as well as Chinese actress Zheng Hanyi. The director of the movie is Andrei Volgin.
