Putin appoints Borisov as special envoy for space cooperation


Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed former head of the Roscosmos corporation Yury Borisov as his special representative for international cooperation in the field of space. The decree of the head of state dated February 18 is posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.
"To appoint Borisov Yuri Ivanovich Borisov as special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on international cooperation in the field of space," the document says.
At the same time, the President relieved cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev of the said post, the decree is also posted on the portal. Krikalev was in this position since January 18, 2024. Both decisions come into force from the day of signing the documents.
Earlier, on February 6, Borisov was dismissed from the post of Director General of the state corporation "Roscosmos", which he headed since July 15, 2022. Dmitry Bakanov, deputy head of the Transport Ministry, was appointed in his place.
