- Savelyev said the start of the tourist season in the Black Sea only after the inspection of all beaches

Decisions on the opening of the summer tourist season in the Black Sea will be taken after the Rospotrebnadzor commission confirms the compliance of all beaches with the established requirements. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 18.
He added that specialists are currently working on the restoration of the coastal strip, damaged after the spillage of oil products during the tanker accident on the Black Sea coast. Regional authorities are to inspect about 139 beaches.
"Rospotrebnadzor specialists will conduct a preliminary assessment of compliance of beaches and recreation areas with sanitary requirements by March 1 this year. <...> We will make decisions on the opening and format of the summer tourist season only after confirming the compliance of beaches with the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor," - said Savelyev.
He added that the agency's specialists control the quality of atmospheric air, water and soil, and representatives of Rosrybolovstvo monitor the safety of fish.
Before that, on February 13, Putin instructed the government to submit proposals to improve measures to prevent and eliminate spills of oil and oil products in Russia, including at sea. By March 15, the head of state instructed to assess the possibility of using Russian equipment to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill resulting from the crash of tankers in the Kerch Strait.
The tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. Two criminal cases were initiated over the incident.
Two days later, by the morning of December 17, oil products reached the shores of Anapa and Temryuksky district, and then Crimea. On December 26, a federal emergency regime was declared. On January 9, Putin called the fuel oil spill in the Black Sea one of the most serious environmental challenges for the country in recent years.
