Analysts told about popular places for Russians to buy real estate

Over the past year, interest in real estate in Oman has increased 2.5 times, reported "Izvestia" on February 19, analysts of the platform MIPIF. Thus, 8.5% of Russians who are considering various options for purchase, named this Arab state among the destinations of interest. According to this indicator, Oman for the first time got into the top 10 popular countries for deals with foreign real estate for Russians.
In first place is the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 40% included the UAE in the list of priority destinations for buying real estate. Also over the past year significantly increased demand and interest in real estate in Thailand. If a year earlier the country was considered for themselves 23% of Russians, now this figure has grown almost one and a half times and is already 32%, overtaking Bali. Only 29% of those looking for real estate abroad are interested in it.
On the fourth and fifth places in demand are Northern Cyprus and Turkey with 17% and 16% respectively. Also in the top 10 included Cyprus, Spain, Greece and Portugal. The list of countries also includes quite exotic destinations. For example, 1.5% study Zanzibar from the point of view of a possible purchase of real estate, and 1% Brazil.
Experts also noted an increase in demand for projects at the start of sales and a decrease in confidence in the secondary market. According to the study, there are two multidirectional trends in the foreign real estate market. On the one hand, a decrease in the average check when buying foreign real estate from Russians, which is evident from the increase in requests for real estate up to €300 thousand, and on the other hand - the share of investors who consider objects worth from €500 thousand to €2 million is growing.
"There is also a change in motivation for buying real estate. Buyers are increasingly seeking to create passive sources of income and provide themselves with long-term opportunities for living abroad and traveling. At the same time, the demand for real estate as a way to make a quick buck and status purchases such as buying a dacha abroad is decreasing," explained MIPIF CEO Dmitry Savateev.
Earlier, January 20, it was reported that in 2024, Russians bought housing abroad 20-25% less often. The main reasons for the decline were numerous restrictions, problems in currency settlements and difficulties in obtaining residence permits. The popularity of European countries is decreasing every year. Growth has also been recorded, but in new destinations. Thailand, Bali, Montenegro and Georgia became more popular by 20-25% over the year.
