Expert names pros and cons of Ilon Musk's new neural network

The uncensored operation of entrepreneur Ilon Musk's new neural network Grok 3 means that any request will be processed without restrictions from a moral and legal point of view. This has both positive and negative sides, Anton Averyanov, CEO of the ST IT group of companies and expert of the TechNet NTI market, told Izvestia on February 18.
"The positive here is that this approach protects freedom of speech, from the negative - there may be ways to use this neural network with malicious intent. In general, the absence of censorship is not something new. Similar neural networks already exist and are even open-access models, but Grok should be a head above the existing ones in its responses, code writing and other capabilities," he explained.
In addition, the expert drew attention to the fact that it has now become a trend to make search tools with neural networks. Averyanov suggested that Grok is also likely to support this trend and release its own tool.
"However, given the reputation of Ilon Musk, namely his love for not quite realistic promises, it is quite possible that Grok will not live up to such expectations and will be though better than existing models, but will surpass them insignificantly and perhaps not in everything," Averyanov added.
In turn, the press service of Yandex noted that the development and implementation of artificial intelligence requires compliance with moral, ethical and legal norms. At the same time, they added that it is important to distinguish the ethical aspects of the basic model from the ethical requirements for specific products or services. For example, the base model may not initially have ethical properties built in. However, when it comes to specific services, companies approach their development with ethical standards in mind.
Earlier in the day, Musk unveiled Grok 3, a next-generation neural network, which he himself called the smartest artificial intelligence (AI) on Earth. The distinctive feature of the novelty is high performance in special programs, training on the Colossus supercomputer with 200 thousand chips and almost complete absence of censorship. Timofei Voronin, deputy director of the STI Competence Center based at Moscow State University, told Izvestia that the release of Grok 3 will intensify competition in the global AI market, as well as competition specifically between US and Chinese AI technologies.
