The head of the Ministry of Labor told about long weekends on May holidays


Working Russians will not have a shortened work week this year in connection with the holidays of February 23 and March 8, as they both fall on weekends. Russian Labor and Social Protection Minister Anton Kotyakov said on February 18 that these weekends will be added to the May holidays so that people could have a longer rest.
"It turned out that March 8 and February 23 fell on weekends, we used these days to form a fairly long May holidays. Today the calendar is quite balanced, we have fewer broken labor weeks within the year," TASS quoted him as saying.
Kotyakov noted that the calendar of weekends and working days every year is determined by a government decision. When forming it, the length of the New Year and May holidays is taken into account.
"We proceed from the fact that it was as convenient as possible for our citizens, so that the week was not torn", - specified the head of the department.
Earlier, on February 6, the head of the Republic Sergey Aksyonov said that in the Crimea established an additional holiday weekend this year in honor of a number of Muslim and Orthodox holidays. So, March 31 will be an additional day off in Crimea in celebration of Uraza-Bayram. In addition, Crimeans will rest on April 21, June 6 and 9. These days will be Easter, Eid al-Adha and Holy Trinity Day.
Before that, on January 13, the director of personnel and organizational development of the service "Work.ru" Julia Sanina said that the next short working week awaits Russians from April 28 to 30. According to her, Thursday, May 1, is also a day off, celebrating the Labor Holiday. The next day, Friday, May 2, will be a non-working day due to the transfer of January 4. At the same time, April 30 will be a shortened working day.
