The peace plan of the Russian Federation and the USA may include the holding of presidential elections in Ukraine. This is what Fox News Channel correspondent Jacqui Heinrich claims, citing sources connected to the US-Russian talks in Riyadh.

"The U.S. and Russia see the holding of new elections in Ukraine as a key condition for the success of the settlement process," she wrote in the social network X (former Twitter) on February 18.

It is noted that before the vote, the parties plan to reach a ceasefire, and the final peace agreement will be signed after the election of a new head of Ukraine.

Earlier, on February 16, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko (a member of the association, included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of those involved in extremist activity or terrorism) said that elections in the country could be held on October 26, 2025.

At the same time, on February 15, the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024, offered to choose another citizenship to Ukrainians who hope to hold presidential elections.

On February 18, Riyadh hosted bilateral talks between delegations from Russia and the United States. The Russian Federation was represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov, as well as the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev.

After the meeting, the US State Department said that US Secretary of State Mark Rubio and Sergey Lavrov agreed to appoint high-level negotiating teams to start work on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the department noted that a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump and their personal meeting were not enough to resolve the conflict.
