The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GID) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and military officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) after an attack on a civilian facility of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). This was reported in the press service of the company on February 18.
The criminal case was initiated under paragraphs "a", "c" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act").
"The case is instituted against servicemen of the GUR of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, the AFU and other military formations, who, being in the territory of Ukraine controlled by them and following criminal orders, committed an attack with the use of drones on civilian infrastructure," - stated on the website of the CTC.
Earlier on February 18, Transneft in the Krasnodar region oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium was seriously damaged as a result of a drone attack by the AFU. It is specified that two transformers, filters and fire extinguishing system of GTU were also destroyed. At the moment oil transportation is temporarily carried out by emergency scheme.
Drones attacked the CPCoil pumping station on February 17. It was specified that there were no casualties among the personnel. The workers were able to prevent the threat of an oil spill. Later, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the AFU attack on the facility was a desperate strike by Kiev against American companies and personally against US leader Donald Trump.
