Moscow, Sochi and St. Petersburg have become the most popular cities for tourists who will go on trips in March. Among foreign destinations, Istanbul, Dubai and Tokyo are popular, according to the data of the travel planning service OneTwoTrip, which were reviewed by Izvestia on February 19.
Experts analyzed hotel bookings for the first spring month and found out that this year trips to Russia became more popular: the share of the country increased by 38%, up to 47%.
In the capital 18.4% of bookings were made, which is 17% more than in 2024. In Sochi 17.8% of tourists booked hotels (+10% compared to last March), in St. Petersburg - 14.5% of orders.
Kaliningrad (3.8% share), Kazan (3.8%), Irkutsk (2.1%), Yekaterinburg (1.9%), Nizhny Novgorod (1.9%), Novosibirsk (1.5%) and Krasnodar (1.0%) are also in the top 10.
Interest in traveling to Novosibirsk increased most noticeably over the year - twice as many hotels were booked there. By 52% more travelers will go to Kaliningrad, by 27% - to Yekaterinburg, by 19% - to Kazan. At the same time Irkutsk, on the contrary, became less popular by 22%.
Among foreign destinations in demand among Russians in March Istanbul was the leader: the Turkish metropolis accounted for 7.1% of hotel bookings (a quarter less than a year ago). The second line was occupied by Dubai with the share of 4.1% (-37%). In third place was Tokyo (2.8%), which showed a serious increase in demand: twice as many tourists will be vacationing in the capital of Japan than last March. Another Japanese city, Osaka, also made it to the top, with a fourfold increase in interest and a 2.1% share.
In addition, the top ten included Pattaya (2.7%), Bangkok (2.6%), Paris (2.2%), Budapest (1.9%), Milan (1.8%) and Nha Trang (1.6%).
Earlier, on February 14, analysts of the YouTravel.me service told Izvestia that among Russians there was a significant increase in interest in author tours abroad. According to experts, this trend can be attributed to a number of factors, including the decline in the dollar exchange rate, which makes foreign tourism more affordable for consumers.
