The prosecutor's office demanded that the actions of fascists in North Ossetia be recognized as genocide

The prosecutor's office of North Ossetia sent an application to the court to establish the fact of the peoples of the Soviet Union. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation on February 18.

In the preparation of the statement involved law enforcement officers, archives and educational institutions.

As noted in the material, German troops occupied North Ossetia in October 1942, the occupation lasted until December of the same year. During this time, more than 2.3 thousand people were killed, including shot by the occupiers. The damage from the occupation amounted to two billion rubles.

The application was filed with the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in order to protect the rights of the victims and their relatives, as well as to inform the world about the victims of the German invaders during the Great Patriotic War and to restore historical justice.

Earlier, on February 7, the prosecutor's office of the Murmansk region sent a petition to the court asking to recognize the actions of the Nazi invaders in the region during the Great Patriotic War as genocide of the Soviet people. It was specified that in the region the total number of victims of the invaders, killed, tortured in camps, died as a result of disease and starvation, exceeds 15 thousand people.

In 2025, May 9 marks 80 years since the victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the USSR army launched an offensive against Berlin. As a result of military operations at 00:43 Moscow time on May 9, commanders-in-chief signed an act of unconditional surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the Great Patriotic War.
