The Russian Ministry of Defense has created a new system of innovative research, development and implementation of created samples of weapons, military and special equipment based on their results. The new project was named Voentech (Military Technological Initiative), the ministry said on February 18.

It noted that the project is essentially a transformation of the Tech Council, operating under the auspices of the Russian Defense Ministry and the Popular Front, which has become an effective tool for accelerated implementation of rapid innovations in the interests of special military operations (SMO).

To expand Voenteh's functional capabilities, combat validation teams will be formed, which, together with units of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) and industry representatives, will test samples in real combat conditions, as well as study and implement proactive technical developments created in the field.

One of the key tasks of the project is to train specialists and introduce new products to the troops.

"The created structure implies a qualitatively new and extensive system of interaction with the civilian scientific community, production laboratories located in all innovation-developed regions of Russia," the Russian Defense Ministry pointed out.

They added that Voenteh's work is based on effective practices and organizational tools of the "People's Defense Industrial Complex" Tech Council, the military innovation technopolis "ERA" and the Russian Defense Ministry's Commission for Innovative Projects and Technologies.

In May 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the head of the Russian Defense Ministry Andrei Belousov should open the department for innovation and constructive work with scientists and manufacturers of military equipment.
