Mishustin pointed out the importance of forming a flexible education system

It is necessary to form a competitive, flexible education system taking into account the needs of the economy and social sphere. This was stated by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at the strategic session on education development on February 18.
Mishustin pointed out that by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the government is developing a long-term strategy for the development of education until 2036 and in the future until 2040. This comprehensive program is designed to determine the directions in which Russian educational institutions - kindergartens, schools, technical schools and universities - will work in the next 15 years.
Mishustin also pointed to the fact that Russian education retains a need for teaching staff, especially in fundamental disciplines, as well as an increase in the level of professional retraining.
"Without answers to these questions in the near future it will be much more difficult to achieve the same technological leadership, to successfully implement national projects and other programs that are necessary for further growth and development of our economy and our social sphere," the Prime Minister stressed.
He added that the activities of the strategy should first of all be aimed at improving the quality of education.
Prior to that, on January 30, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky said that the task of schools is to bring up a child who is comprehensively developed and able to think. He said that new history textbooks often contain diametric assessments of certain events or contradictory memories of contemporaries about the events.
