South of Königsberg, February 19, 1945, the Soviet troops, continuing battles to destroy the East Prussian group of the enemy, took possession of several settlements. The Izvestia newspaper reported that.

"North and northwest of the town of Grudziandz, our troops, advancing northward along the western bank of the Vistula, seized the town of Neuenburg. On the northern bank of the Danube, our troops repulsed attacks by enemy infantry and tank forces and after persistent fighting left several settlements," the newspaper reported on February 19, 1945.

On February 18, Izvestia launched a special project "80 Days to Victory". The events of that day were not included in the chronicle of the 1945 issue, and the next day the newspaper was not published. Izvestia wrote about what was described in this news in the issue of February 20.

There were exactly 79 days left till the Great Victory.

At that time, the theaters of Moscow organized a "Day of Cultural Recreation of a Wounded Soldier". In the service of hospitals took part 10 theaters and concert organizations in Moscow.
