Estonia's Defense Ministry denied Trump's withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Baltics


Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur has denied the claim that the United States may withdraw its troops from the Baltics during negotiations with Russia. This was reported by the local newspaper Postimees on February 18.
Pevkur noted that there were no signals from the U.S. side about the forthcoming withdrawal of troops from the region.
In addition, the politician's recent conversation with the head of the United States Pentagon Pete Hegseth also did not touch upon this topic, the head of the Estonian defense ministry stressed.
"We should not give in to rumors," the publication reports Pevkur's words.
On the eve of the British newspaper Financial Times reported that US President Donald Trump may agree to the withdrawal of US troops from the Baltics. At the same time, the publication said that Washington's possible decision would make the European Union (EU) vulnerable to Russia.
On the same day, NATO Military Committee Chairman Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said that the US will reduce its military presence in Europe and shift its attention to the Indo-Pacific region. According to him, about 100,000 US military personnel may leave the European territory.
