VTB told about a 2.5-fold increase in support for the tourism industry

VTB Bank has provided medium and small business clients from the tourism and hospitality sector more than 2.3 thousand loans for 258 billion rubles in 2024. This is 2.5 times more than in 2023, said the press service of the credit organization.
The leaders in attracting loans to finance the industry were the Krasnodar region (85 billion rubles), Moscow and the Moscow region (more than 70 billion) and the Altai region (19 billion).
In addition, VTB participates in the Ministry of Economic Development's concessional lending program No. 141 aimed at developing domestic and inbound tourism. The bank takes the leading position and makes 30% of the total number of transactions. At the end of 2024, the organization's portfolio under this program amounted to RUB 32.2 billion, having almost doubled over the year.
According to Ruslan Eremenko, a member of VTB's Management Board, entrepreneurs in many regions see the potential of domestic tourism: they invest in infrastructure development, improving the quality of service.
"Last year we supported a large number of landmark projects for the country: from water parks and new elevators at ski resorts, to the expansion of hotel rooms. This year we expect increased investor interest in new tourism projects and will support their initiatives," said Ruslan Eremenko, Member of VTB's Management Board.
In 2024, VTB supported, for example, the development of a tourist cluster at the Dombai resort in Karachay-Cherkessia, the construction of a hotel and resort complex in Vladikavkaz and the Bolshaya Voda aqua complex in Chelyabinsk, as well as the construction of a multifunctional complex with a four-star hotel and SPA-center in Tobolsk in the Tyumen region.
The growth of the tourist segment is also evidenced by the data of the analytical service "First OFD" (part of VTB Group). In the fourth quarter of 2024, domestic spending by the bank's clients on hotels and inns increased by a third to 19 billion rubles compared to October-December 2023. In total, Russians spent about RUB 75 billion on travel before the New Year holidays.
