Expert predicted the ruble exchange rate this week
This week, the dollar will be in the range of Br87-93, euro - Br91-97, yuan - Br12-12.7, believes the head of investment strategy research department of Alfa-Forex, Spartak Sobolev. He told "Izvestia" on February 18.
February 18, the Russian Central Bank set the U.S. currency rate at Br91.4, the European currency - Br95.8, the Chinese currency - Br12.49. At the same time, the yuan also reached Br12.4 on the Moscow Exchange.
"After a surge in market volatility, the ruble quotes are trying to stabilize in the new weekly boundaries of 87-93 rubles per dollar, 91-97 rubles per euro and 12-12.7 rubles per yuan," said Sobolev.
According to him, the optimism of geopolitical factors has significantly shifted the market balance towards the supply of foreign currency from exporters.
"Additional support for the ruble in the medium term will continue to be provided by the Bank of Russia's tight monetary policy. The regulator on Friday signaled its intention to keep rates close to the 21% level for a long period of time," the expert added.
Earlier, on February 14, Russian banks told Izvestia about the observed increased activity of Russians in buying and selling dollars and euros. At the same time, no significant changes in dirhams, yuan and baht were recorded.
