The deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation have adopted a law to extend the maternity capital program until December 31, 2030. The bill, discussed at the plenary session on February 18, was submitted to the deputies from the government in December 2024.
According to the decision, the law "On additional measures of state support for families with children" will be amended. Thus, stated in the explanatory note, about 5 million Russian families will be entitled to maternity capital from 2027 to 2030.
It is assumed that the implementation of the program will require additional expenditures from the budget in the amount of 2.776 trillion rubles. Such a measure of state support for Russian families was introduced within the framework of the national project "Demography". Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to extend the program of matkapital following the results of his address to the Federal Assembly in February 2024.
Earlier, on January 27, the Accounts Chamber told "Izvestia" that in 2024 Russians received 706 thousand certificates for maternity capital. It was noted that the number of issued certificates decreased by 218.15 thousand (23.6%). At the same time, 1.8 million families with children disposed of these funds in 2024.
