Zakharova suggested that northern Europe discuss Greenland instead of Ukraine

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has suggested that the Nordic countries talk about their own problems instead of discussing Ukraine. The diplomat wrote the corresponding message in her Telegram channel on 18 February.
This is how she reacted to foreign media reports that the Finnish prime minister has called a parliamentary meeting to discuss Ukraine, while in Sweden they are summoning MPs to discuss the same topic.
"Maybe the Nordic countries will discuss their own pressing problems - Greenland? At least 'at the same time'," Zakharova wrote.
In December last year, US President Donald Trumpsaid that for the US to own and control Greenland was an absolute necessity. Before that, he expressed interest in buying the island from Denmark in 2019, but was turned down. In the coming year, Trump was also indicated that the island is not for sale and will not be sold, but Denmark can cooperate more with the US.
On Jan. 26, Trump, answering questions from reporters in Las Vegas, expressed confidence that the United States would take possession of Greenland. The day before, Trump insisted in a phone conversation with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen that he would buy the island. It was reported that the American leader in the conversation was aggressive and set for conflict.
