Honored Art Worker of Russia, director and the oldest teacher of GITIS Grigory Spektor died at the 100th year of life. This is reported on the website of the educational institution.

"I do not want to talk about Grigory Vladimirovich in the past tense. I want to think that he is always there. I will always feel his gaze," - quoted "Moscow 24" deputy dean of the Faculty of musical theater Galina Timakova.

The institute noted that Spektor worked until December last year. He wrote articles, watched performances, supported students, taught at the department of musical theater.

"GITIS grieves and expresses its deepest condolences to his wife Tatiana Borisovna, family, friends, colleagues and students of Grigory Vladimirovich", - stated in the message.

Spektor staged more than 110 dramatic and opera productions, reports NSN.

The cause and details of the death of the director are not disclosed. He did not live 11 months before his 100th birthday, specified on the website kp.ru.

Spektor was born in Tbilisi in 1926. During the Great Patriotic War (WWII) he was a member of musical ensembles, in which he performed in hospitals in front of wounded soldiers, after which he continued his career in the ensemble of border troops. He entered the directing faculty of GITIS, RT reports.
