The Georgian president spoke about attempts to push the country to war with Russia

Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili said that external forces were trying to push the country towards an armed conflict with Russia. He said this in an interview with Radio Courtoisie on February 18.
"We were left alone with a nuclear power and promised: 'Come on, we will provide you with weapons'." Young pro-Europeans urged us to go to war against Russia," News.Az quoted him as saying.
According to him, such calls were heard from the first day after the start of hostilities in Ukraine, despite the fact that Georgia is neither a NATO nor EU member state.
The Georgian President emphasized that the Georgian authorities were helped by the people in defending their national interests.
"History will one day recognize that we saved Georgia," he summarized.
Last July, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the republic would turn into a second front of military confrontation with Russia "in a matter of days" if the opposition wins the parliamentary elections. The prime minister claims that after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the opposition inside the country as well as the Ukrainian leadership urged Georgia to send the military to the conflict zone. According to Kobakhidze, this would mean Georgia's full-fledged involvement in the confrontation with Russia.
