Russia and India have signed an agreement to simplify interaction between the defense ministries of the countries when organizing joint events. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 18.
"There was a meeting of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel General Alexander Fomin with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Vinay Kumar, at the end of which a bilateral intergovernmental agreement was signed to simplify the procedure of interaction between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of India in the organization of joint events by the armed forces of the two countries," - noted in the Telegram-channel.
In addition, during the meeting it was noted the importance of the signed document for cooperation in the military field between the countries, as well as the strengthening of specialized cooperation for strategic partnership.
Earlier, on February 9, Indian Deputy Defense Minister Sanjeev Kumar said that India is studying the capabilities of the Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57 for its possible purchase. According to him, the issue of purchasing the fighter will be decided by representatives of the Indian armed forces.
In June last year, the Russian government approved the signing of an agreement between Russia and India on mutual dispatch of troops on the territory of each state. It was noted that the draft provided by the Russian Defense Ministry was coordinated with the Russian Foreign Ministry and other concerned federal executive bodies. The draft was also preliminarily worked out with the Indian side.
