FSB detains three people in Zaporizhzhya region on suspicion of espionage

Two citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of the Russian Federation have been detained in Zaporizhzhya Region who were involved in the transfer of information about the location of Russian military equipment to a foreign party. This was reported on February 18 by the press service of the FSSB of Russia in the region.

"The FSSB of Russia in Zaporozhye region in the course of operational and investigative measures detained two citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of the Russian Federation, involved in the collection and transfer to a foreign party information about the locations and routes of movement of military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation through a foreign Internet messenger," - follows from the message.

It is noted that one of the detainees contacted a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and, performing his tasks, involved two acquaintances in collecting data on the location, number and routes of movement of units of Russian troops in the zone of the North Caucasus Military District. This information was supposed to be used to adjust the strikes of the AFU against Russian positions.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage") and Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High Treason"). It is specified that the investigation is ongoing.

On February 14, the Main Directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Black Sea Fleet reported about the detention of a Crimean resident for transferring information about military facilities of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) on the territory of the republic to the special services of Ukraine.
