On the British islands of Turks and Caicos, a shark attacked a 55-year-old tourist from Canada, who tried to take a picture with it. This was reported by The New Zealand Herald.

According to the publication, the shark, which reached a length of about 2 meters, appeared near the shore, where the tourist was. After the woman decided to approach the predator to make a photo, but the shark sharply pounced and bit off both her hands. It is noted that the attack was seen by the husband of the victim, who began to scare the animal away from his wife.

According to assumptions, the tourist amputated one hand below the wrist, and the other - in the middle of the forearm. At this point, the victim has returned to Canada to continue her recovery.

Earlier, last September, in the Canary Islands, a 30-year-old tourist from Germany died in a shark attack. It was noted that the woman lost a leg as a result of the attack and died on board a rescue helicopter.
