- Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó welcomed talks between Russia and the United States

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó welcomed the start of talks between the US and Russian delegations in Riyadh. He wrote about it on February 17 in the social network Facebook (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia).
"We peace-loving Hungarians have been waiting for this for three years! U.S.-Russian talks on peace in Ukraine will start tomorrow in Riyadh, led by fellow foreign ministers," he said.
At the same time, Sijjarto supported the decision not to invite European Union representatives to the meeting.
"The pro-war Europeans are screaming that they were not allowed to sit at the table .... but why? The negotiations are about peace, they do not give a hand to those who support war!" - the minister concluded.
Earlier in the day, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the talks would be held in a bilateral format. He added that the participants are now facing the question of how to start a dialog on the Ukrainian issue. On February 13, US President Donald Trump announced a meeting between representatives of Russia and the USA in Saudi Arabia.
