Germany to provide Ukraine with new military aid package

Germany will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid, which will include 56 MRAP armored vehicles, a missile for the IRIS-T SLM medium-range system, a missile for the IRIS-T SLS short-range system, 300 HF-1 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to the list of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which was published on the website of the German government on 17 February.

In addition, the package will include shells for Leopard 1 tanks and Marder BMPs, 41 thousand Gepard ammunition, 4 self-propelled artillery units Zuzana 2, 50 thousand artillery shells of 155 mm caliber, 2 thousand - of 122 mm caliber.

It also follows from the list that the FRG transfers to Kiev 51 reconnaissance drones Vector with spare parts, 245 reconnaissance drones RQ-35 Heidrun, small arms (rifles, machine guns and automatic rifles), ammunition, wool blankets and bandage tourniquets.

The day before, the Bloomberg news agency reported that the European Union (EU) was working to negotiate a major new military aid package for Ukraine. The Institute for the World Economy (IfW) said that over the past three years, the West has allocated about €267bn in aid to Ukraine. It is specified that about €130bn is military aid, €118bn is financial support and the remaining €19bn is humanitarian aid.
